What motivated you to join PAWS Chicago’s team?
I joined the team because I am passionate about helping homeless pets and I knew the team would give me some extra motivation to run my first marathon. After joining, I created a video training and fundraising blog that detailed all the ups and downs of my training. Knowing that all my friends and family were donating to PAWS and keeping up with my training, I knew I couldn’t give up on what seemed like an impossible goal at times!

Do you have a favorite memory of your time on the team?
Marathon day, right before the race, I met up with some of my fellow PAWS runners. Since it was all of our first time running, we were all so excited, a little scared and very proud of each other for what we were about to accomplish after all of our training. I will never forget starting the race with all of them and how thrilling that moment was – knowing that we were about to accomplish a milestone not only for ourselves, but for the homeless pets we helped save.

March “Fun Run” Pictures!

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the March Fun Run! Our monthly Fun Runs are short, 1-2 mile runs for runners and their dogs. If you don’t have a dog, you can sign up to run with a PAWS Chicago dog!

beckBeck, an eight-month-old Spaniel mix was badly injured after his owner tossed him out of a secondstory window. Confused, alone and in need of medical attention, Beck was taken in, immediately treated and is now recovering at the PAWS Chicago Adoption & Humane Center. With a comfortable bed and toys to play with, his broken spirit is starting to heal too.

wyattWyatt, a three-month-old kitten likely wondered what he had done wrong to land himself at the bottom of a dumpster in the parking lot of a local bank. Mewing until his voice was hoarse, Wyatt’s cries were heard by a volunteer heading to her car after a long day. Pulling him from the dumpster, she noticed the kitten was covered in tar, and starving. She brought Wyatt to PAWS Chicago for medical treatment. After recovering in a foster home, Wyatt was ready for adoption.
