PAWS Chicago 2009 Runner Profile

Brent Bunker

Age: 36 , Occupation: Engineer

What Motivated You to Join The PAWS Chicago 2009 Marathon Team?
That Bugsy, our Boston, may have ended up in a shelter if we didn't make him ours.

Is this your first marathon?
No, I ran Chicago in 2005.

On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
That I pledged to run 6.2 miles more no matter how dehydrated I am from crying hysterically for 20 miles.

Why PAWS Chicago?
Because I believe in 2nd chances and that PAWS Chicago is a no-kill shelter where homeless dogs and cats are waiting for someone to love. Plus, in this economy, more and more people are giving up their pets to cut costs and PAWS needs any help they can get right now.

How did you find out about the PAWS Chicago 2009 Marathon Team?
Since this is my 2nd marathon, I had been on many training runs and saw PAWS Chicago training shirts along the lakefront. I wanted to make this marathon a little more special and not just for me this time.
