PAWS Chicago 2009 Runner Profile

Britany Robinson

Age: 22 , Occupation: Student

What Motivated You to Join The PAWS Chicago 2009 Marathon Team?
I found out about PAWS and their marathon team after deciding that I wanted to start running, possibly run a half marathon in the near future. I had also been looking for some fun volunteer opportunities that would allow me to meet new people and help out for a cause that I believe in. My running goals and volunteer possibilities came together perfectly when I found out that Paws had a team. I knew that joining a team would push me further in my training process, and I soon decided I wanted to run both the half and full marathons. I love animals and it feels great to tie in my running with a great cause like this one.

Is this your first marathon?
yes

On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
How amazing it will feel to know that I pushed myself physically and mentally, further than I ever thought possible.

Why PAWS Chicago?
I recently moved to Chicago, and really miss my family's dog, Toby. We adopted him from a rescue organization, and he is the sweetest, most loveable dog I've ever known. I've decided owning my own dog in Chicago is not a good decision, so volunteering my time at Paws allows me to be around dogs without owning one. (Even though I wish I could take all of them home with me!) Its great to see a shelter that provides so much to the animals and the community.
