PAWS Chicago 2009 Runner Profile

Amy Jo Mork

, Occupation: Founder of www.leashwecando.com

What Motivated You to Join The PAWS Chicago 2009 Marathon Team?
I have always been passionate about animals of all kinds and have made their health and happiness my life. I am a strong supporter of no kill and feel this is a great way to show my commitment.

Is this your first marathon?
Yes. Ohhhhhh, Yes!

On mile 20, what will you think of to keep going?
I am going to think of (and have been thinking of during training) all the animals that need homes and how every step will help contribute to their well being. I'll be thinking of all my supporters who have made this possible. And I'll be missing my own dog who is helping me train. It's going to be so hard to run without her!

What obstacles, fears or challenges are you overcoming by running the marathon?
To be perfectly honest, I've had a rough year. I am looking forward to setting a really big goal and working toward something I care about, but also boosting my own confidence and energy. My training time with my dog is for me, my dog, and for PAWS Chicago. While it is incredibly difficult, I need to be able to set a big goal and tackle it.

Why PAWS Chicago?
I am proud to support the no-kill movement. I think PAWS Chicago does amazing work and I am thrilled to be a part of this team.
